Court orders criminal trial against Sola PSI

AHMEDABAD: A magisterial court within the Mirzapur Rural court campus has ordered to begin criminal court cases in opposition to a police sub-inspector posted at the Sola police station on charges of assault.

The court has ordered criminal trial in opposition to PSI H Okay Srimali beneath Section 323 of the IPC.


The case relates to an incident of road rage in January 2016. PSI Srimali allegedly assaulted a person, Vijay Rabari, on Gota flyover. The police officer allegedly assaulted Rabari, who was driving a motorcycle, and were given into a tiff with him for overtaking a bus at the flyover. Rabari, allegedly, was dragged to the police station, the place he complained of being tortured.


Rabari made a grievance earlier than the court, which ordered a senior officer, of the rank of an assistant commissioner of police, to inquire into the allegations and report to the court. The court has refused to consider other charges of unlawful detention and custodial torture through the cop, however mentioned that prima facie it seemed that it was a case of assault on part of Srimali.
