BHUBANESWAR: Custom sleuths have seized gold, weighing 1.2 kg, value Rs 35 lakh from Biju Patnaik International Airport, officials said.
On Wednesday also, the custom sleuths have seized Rs 12 lakh value of gold bars weighing 378 grams from the airport.
Two passengers, natives of Thane in Maharashtra, coming by means of a Bangkok flight were arrested after custom officials discovered their actions suspicious.
The passengers had hidden the gold bars in their rectum whilst the rings were discovered hidden behind blouse buttons, officials said.
This is the fourth incident of gold bars being seized by means of Customs from the international terminal in previous six months. In February gold value Rs 22 lakh was once seized.
