HYDERABAD: It’s a double pride for denizens of the Old City. The long-pending Metro rail works will kick off quickly and the rail corridor might be prolonged from Falaknuma to Shamshabad Airport.
Municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao stated the works within the Old City were not on time on account of the sensitivity involved with numerous religious buildings at the stretch. Giving an in depth reply at the works all the way through the question hour within the assembly on Tuesday, the minister stated: “There are 103 religious buildings at the stretch and 25 were likely to get affected. But now, simplest four buildings must make means for building of Metro viaduct and pier.”
Metro rail stretches within the Old City fall underneath corridor II of Metro phase I (JBS to Falaknuma) and the works are being taken up from JBS to MGBS. But now, the federal government is planning to finish the balance 6-km stretch from MGBS to Falaknuma as well.
While the maximum width of the street is 200 toes in puts like Miyapur, the minimal road width is 66 toes at Sultan Bazar which is oneway. “The road must be expanded to 80 toes to 100 toes,” the minister stated and added that works between JBS and MGBS are at a brisk tempo and might be completed by means of August this year.
When MIM ground leader Akbaruddin Owaisi sought a rationalization on reports that the venture concessionaire L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad is not keen to finish the Old City corridor, Rama Rao stated: “It is a hypothetical question. The executive is committed to completing the Metro rail within the Old City.”
BJP ground leader G Kishan Reddy puzzled the federal government at the undue lengthen. “People within the Old City have waited for the Metro rail for the last eight years. The TRS executive has also dragged its toes for the last four years,” he identified and staged a walkout protesting against the apathy of the federal government.
Earlier, Rama Rao stated the federal government had spent ₹2,296 crore against land acquisition, while the Centre paid ₹1,000 crore against ₹1,458 crore viability hole funding. On escalation in venture value, the minister stated: “There are claims and counter-claims at the value escalation. But, we now have no longer arrived at a last figure but.”
