VELLORE: Forest officers hooked up rescued a barn owl from a patta land at the outer edge of Agaram woodland on Wednesday.
Odugathur woodland ranger of R Muralidharan mentioned the fowl have been attacked via a flock of crows. On being informed, woodland officers reached the spot and rescued the owl, which is an endangered species. It comes underneath Schedule 3 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
“We gave the fowl remedy and gave it culmination to devour. The fowl is looking in good shape. We have handed it over to the officers in Amirthi zoo,” mentioned the ranger.
District woodland officer Sumesh Soman mentioned the fowl can be stored underneath commentary for 10 days in the zoo. It can be launched into the woodland “as soon as it recovers well.”
