BENGALURU: The three main political parties have given their leader ministerial aspirants a melodious contact to their campaigns. Much like films which announce their heroes with tune and a clash of cymbals, Congress, BJP and JD(S) have incorporated a musical note to accompany their leader ministerial aspirants — Siddaramaiah, B S Yeddyurappa and H D Kumaraswamy respectively — throughout their campaigns.
The greatest exponent of this ‘musical introduction’ is the primary opposition party, BJP. Providing a contemporary composition to each of their rallies, the BJP has also composed a signature track for Yeddyurappa. Annointing the former leader minister as a raitha nayaka (farmers leader), the BJP has composed an in-house tune with Yeddyurappa’s title prominently featuring. The tune will likely be broadly used throughout the Mushtiadanyabhiyaan (fistful of rice campaign), with the BJP Raitha Morcha the usage of it to popularise Yeddyurappa although he is not present.
“There is not any taller leader within the state than Yeddyurappa in the case of farmerfriendly policies,” said BJP state common secretary N Ravi Kumar. “Our intent is to use the music to constantly remind the people that the phrase farmers and Yeddyurappa are synonymous.”
At the other end, Kumaraswamy’s cinematic launch for the 2018 elections at their recently held mega rally in Bengaluru used to be carried out with a “familiar” and “catchy” track from a Kannada film.
For Siddaramaiah, the federal government will add the musical contact. According to assets, the songs for the Congress executive and Siddaramaiah are being composed through the dep. of information and public family members (DIPR). While the songs are basically to popularise the federal government schemes, Siddaramaiah figures prominently in they all.
