Government to promote IT, tourism, 10 other service sectors to boost exports

MUMBAI: The executive is operating on a technique to boost percentage of products and services, which can grow faster than merchandise exports elevating the whole exports from the rustic, stated commerce and trade minister Suresh Prabhu.


"In last few months, we are seeing exports registering growth. We are targeting to ensure that exports are not only traditional products, but new products are also added to the basket. We are focusing on services and have identified 12 services as 'Champion Services'," Prabhu stated after inaugurating CapIndia tournament right here.

He stated that the government has already authorized a Rs five,000 crore to advertise 12 champion products and services sectors equivalent to IT, tourism and hospitality.

The resolution, he stated, will force expansion of the products and services economic system in India. We have prepared an action plan for each of those sectors to advertise them regionally in addition to globally, the minister stated.

Services sector will play a significant function in pushing the rustic's economic expansion and the trade should focus on turning in products and services of world requirements, he added. Prabhu identified that the rustic's chemical sector has massive expansion possible and it must create capability to fulfill exports call for.

The country's chemical compounds trade is predicted to greater than double and contact $300 billion through 2025 from $147 billion now, in keeping with Chemexcil.

The new business policy, which seeks to advertise rising sectors, can be launched inside a couple of months. The executive will provide an enabling atmosphere to the trade to extend the rustic's exports, he stated.

Prabhu stated the ministry could also be formulating an agri- export policy, which used to be put within the public area to seek stakeholders' perspectives.


The aviation ministry is preparing a plan for offering air cargo reinforce to agricultural hubs to advertise farm exports and UAE and Saudi Arabia have proven prepared pastime in making an investment, he added.


"The chemical sector is expected to double to $300 billion by 2025, clocking an annual growth rate of 15-20 per cent. To achieve this, government is also working on a draft chemical policy that will focus on meeting the rising demand for chemicals and reduce imports," chemical compounds export promotion council (Chemexcil) chairman Satish Wagh stated on the sideline of Three-day CapIndia exhibition right here.


"The expo will help us tap immense opportunities for growth, which exist in the fields of speciality chemicals, polymers and agrochemicals industries as 'Make in India' initiative further facilitates growth and investment," Wagh stated.
