MUMBAI: A young male Golden Jackal used to be rescued from Godrej Creekside Colony in Vikhroli by the workforce individuals on Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare on Thursday. The jackal is these days in the custody of woodland officers.
"A distress call was reported to our team by the residents and security staff regarding a jackal lying on the ground. A responding team was immediately assigned to visit the site check situation and locate the animal and evaluate the situation. It was further observed that the animal was totally dehydrated, traumatised and in shock and required immediate medical attention," stated activist Pawan Sharma of RAWW.
Wasting no time, the Rescue Team headed by Mahesh Ithape and Harshit Savla initiated the rescue operation with different workforce individuals Ravi Suryavanshi, Pareen Shah, Akshay Nimbre, Rajesh Mahadik, Nikhil Chandivade and Hasmukh Valanju took the jackal to our Honorary Wildlife Vet Dr Rina Dev in a Wildlife Ambulance.
The jackal had a few canine bites, dehydration, shock and trauma for which it used to be instantly supplied with clinical remedy.
"All necessary samples of pressure, ECG, Blood, Distemper and Rabies etc were carried and we are now awaiting for the results," added Sharma.
After remedy the animal used to be allowed to settle and leisure in the custody and supervision of the Mumbai Range of the Forest Department.
Experts stated that Golden Jackals are regularly noticed in the Mangrove habitats of Eastern Express Highway, alternatively very much less is known about them.
"We have sent a proposal to the Mangrove Cell and are awaiting a green signal from them so as to study and explore more about these amazing mammals," stated the RAWW activist.
The animal has spoke back to the preliminary remedy alternatively its situation remains to be critical.
