BHUBANESWAR: The opposition MLAs from Congress and BJP created ruckus within the state Assembly over reviews relating to misery sale of tomatoes in more than a few parts of the state.
Speaker PK Amat adjourned the home within two mins after the Question Hour began at 10:30 am because the opposition MLAs rushed to the Well and persisted sloganeering against the state govt near the Speakers’ podium.
As the House reassembled at 11:30 am, Leader of opposition Narasingha Mishra lashed out on the state govt over the issue. He suggested the Speaker to adjourn the Assembly in order that the issue of misery sale can also be mentioned to determine a solution.
“During an adjournment debate on Thursday, the agriculture minister (Pradeep Maharathy) claimed that the farmers of the state are facing completely no drawback and the state govt is doing everything for the farmers. Media reviews on misery sale of tomatoes inform the reality about situation of farmers in Odisha. At some puts other folks are not able to purchase tomatoes even at Re 1 in line with kg,” Mishra said.
Stating that farmers across the state are facing equivalent eventualities, Mishra said the state govt is not taking the issue seriously. “Without admitting the ground realities, the state govt is making baseless arguments like they are profitable Krishi Karman awards for expansion of farming sector within the state. Distress sale is forcing farmers to commit suicide. The state governments’ arguments are ridiculous and really unlucky,” he added.
Supporting the leader of opposition, BJP leader KV Singhdeo also said loss of cold storage amenities within the state has resulted in the situation throughout Odisha. He also slammed the state govt for its alleged lackadaisical angle in opposition to the plight of farmers and making tall claims instead.
“The state govt might have introduced separate agriculture price range and launches welfare scheme for farmers however it has didn't win the boldness of the farmers,” said Singhdeo.
As the opposition participants again began sloganeering challenging a ruling from the chair at the issue, Amat adjourned the House till 3pm.
Briefing reviews outside, BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma criticised both the Congress and BJP for disrupting Assembly court cases. “The state govt could be very a lot concerned for farmers and doing everything imaginable. The opposition events are best politicising the issue. They can carry the issue in a right kind platform with out disrupting the assembly court cases,” said Das Burma.
