CHENNAI: Unidentified males hurled lit petrol-filled bottles on the area of a Hindu Makkal Katchi functionary close to Periyapalayam in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu within the early hours of Sunday.
Police resources said miscreants hurled the bottles on the area of Sharathkumar round 2am.
Hearing an explosion, Sharathkumar and his members of the family came out of the house and saw a cot out of doors the house on fire. They doused the hearth with water.
Police said a teashop owner within the space had seen two males, who had come here on a motorcycle, hurling bottles on the area. However, their identities were not established.
Police were trying to nab the boys at the back of the incident.
