Rangappa to invite SAARC scientists to Indian Science Congress

Mysuru: Determined to turn this yr’s edition of the Indian Science Congress (ISC) into a global success, the frame’s newly elected president, former University of Mysore vice-chancellor Prof. KS Rangappa mentioned that he would invite scientists from the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to the development.
At a media interplay on Wednesday, Rangappa mentioned, “I can work for the improvement of science and era in this country. I can work for the education of the more youthful generations via setting up extra programmes on the ISC. The former UoM V-C pointed to some of his illustrious predecessors who had served as ISC presidents – Prof. CNR Rao, Prof. UR Rao, Prof Raja Rammanna among other eminent students.


Rangappa, who is also contesting the assembly elections from the Chamaraja constituency on a JD(S) price tag, mentioned that his party would make all efforts to get the Central University tag bestowed on UoM if it came to energy within the state.


“I can put force on each the state and central governments to have UoM recognised as a central varsity if I get elected within the assembly polls. It can be advanced along the lines of IITs and IISc. UoM has the infrastructure to be accorded the standing of a central varsity,” he mentioned.
