NEW DELHI: Officials of state governments and police will soon be barred from entering air site visitors control (ATC) complexes throughout India on their common airport access passes (AEP).
The move is a fallout of Bengal cops again and again entering the ATC complicated at Kolkata airport to “be sure” plane with leader minister Mamata Banerjee on board landed with none extend.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has asked the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which issues AEPs, to specifically point out that passes given to police and state officials for protocol functions don't grant them get right of entry to to the ATC complicated — major tower and technical house.
“We have studied the problem (following Kolkata police entering ATC house) and found there's no necessity for other people to go in all places in an airport,” AAI chairman Guruprasad Mahapatra informed TOI.
