COIMBATORE: State minister for handlooms and textiles O S Manian on Saturday urged marketers to embrace technical textiles, pronouncing it used to be the one option to take the domestic textiles industry ahead, as the rustic were facing stiff festival from China, Bangladesh and Vietnam.
“Entrepreneurs looking to start textile ventures should go for technical textiles relatively than conventional textiles,” he said talking at the inauguration of a two-day workshop on technical textiles at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPITM) in the city.

Pointing out that the central govt had made to be had several subsidies for marketers who soak up textile ventures, Ok Phanindra Reddy, predominant secretary to the dep. of handlooms, handicrafts, textiles and khadi, said, “By creating the textile industry, the gaps in gross domestic product (GDP) and consistent with capita income of the nation may also be bridged.”


The state govt has recognised the Sardar Vallabhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management as a nodal centre for the improvement of technical textiles and sanctioned Rs 25 lakh to arrange a technical textile wing, said a conversation from the establishment.
