Train halted in time after snag in brakes

GURUGRAM: A big tragedy was prevented when a brake fault in a local train was known in time on Wednesday.

It was repaired at Gurugram railway station. There have been a minimum of 500 other people on board the train, who will have faced primary injuries had it stuck fire. The fault was spotted around 9pm on Wednesday. The Delhi-Rewari Passenger, a local train, was about to succeed in Gurugram when somebody spotted sparks popping out of the rear wheel on the proper facet of the engine and informed the train staff. The train halted at Gurugram railway station and was repaired.


The brakes had developed a fault and a free a part of it had slid against the wheel, which resulted in sparking due to the friction. It sooner or later caused the wheels to get jammed, and the train halted at Gurugram railway station around 9.45pm.


It took about 20 minutes to repair the brakes, and then the train departed around 10.20pm.


“The fault in the train was right away repaired. Had there been a larger fault in the brakes, we'd have arranged to send the passengers in the subsequent train,” said inspector Pawan Yadav, SHO of Gurugram railway station.
