BENGALURU: All thru the second week of March, an ATM in Marathahalli perceived to run out of money at all times. Frustrated customers complained to the bank and after some from side to side, the bank discovered to its horror that they have been right. The cash to be deposited within the ATM were spirited away even as the ATM machine and the logbook showed a deposit of Rs 52 lakh.
Investigations ended in the arrest of 22-year-old Paramesh KK, a law school dropout who labored as a driver-cum-cash handler for coins logistics firm CMS Security Agency.
On March nine, Paramesh in conjunction with a gunman, went to the ATM in Marathahalli to refill coins. While the gunman stood near the car, Paramesh walked in and made an entry within the machine and the logbook pointing out that he had deposited Rs 52 lakh within the gadget. He walked out with the money and went about his work for 4 days sooner than proceeding on leave.
Customer lawsuits made bank suspicious
The bank authorities was alert when customers began complaining about loss of coins within the ATM. While the bank officials maintained that money were deposited, the customers argued in a different way. It was once most effective on March 17 that bank officials realised that the money had no longer been deposited within the gadget. They suspected foul play. Subsequently, a criticism was once lodged with police.”
With the needle of suspicion pointing to Paramesh and the gunman, the police officers began a manhunt. The gunman was once found to be blameless and remained installed his task. Paramesh, in the meantime, by no means returned to work. On March 27, police officers traced Paramesh to his native Beekalli village in Kodagu’s Somwarpet taluk. Paramesh had reportedly spent Rs 50,000 and hidden the remainder Rs 51.five lakh in mud pots in a cowshed.
“Paramesh has said he was once very annoyed with his running prerequisites. He used to double up as driving force as coins filler. He was once hired for a wage of Rs 7,000 per 30 days in conjunction with a using allowance of Rs 300 in keeping with day. But he informed us that he was once denied the daily using allowance for the remaining 3 months and was once finding it tricky to pay the rent for his area in Gharvebhavipalya,” a police source informed TOI.
“As he was once aware of the money filling and monitoring mechanism, he made up our minds to exploit the machine. But for the lawsuits from the customers, the heist would have no longer come within the open and he would have long gone scot free.”
