Hyderabad: In swelter season, hailstorm and rain bring smiles again

HYDERABAD: For the second one day in a row, hailstorm, in conjunction with heavy rain in different portions of the city on Sunday, equipped a much-needed aid to citizens from the heatwave prerequisites.
The rain used to be accompanied by robust, gusty winds that reached a speed of 17 knots. The incessant winds uprooted trees and poles, bringing traffic to ahalt at many places.





Hailstorm used to be reported from Secunderabad, Begumpet, Mettuguda and Musheerabad. Officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported that two electric poles fell because of the affect of heavy winds at Ambedkar Nagar in Golkonda department. A tree used to be also uprooted close to Genpact in Uppal.


The rain managed the upward surge of the mercury to a undeniable extent. From a maximum recorded temperature of 38.7°C all over the day, the mercury dipped by over 8°C after the rain. By evening, the temperature in quite a lot of portions of the city fell to not up to 30°C.


“Moderate to critical thunderstorm can be recorded in remoted places all over the place Hyderabad and Telangana on Monday as smartly. The thunderstorms will broaden between 11am and 6pm, all over which fluctuations in temperature can be recorded,” said YK Reddy, director of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad.


IMD, Hyderabad officials, on Sunday reported that moderate to critical thunderstorms with or without hail struck a number of portions of Rangareddy, Yadadri-Bhongir and Hyderabad districts. IMD officials have also warned that thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are likely to be recorded at remoted places in all districts of Telangana between April 1and April five. Private climate forecaster, Skymet, also reported that because of the “prevailing climate techniques”, rainfall process is expected to occur throughout Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chennai on Monday.


Several citizens took to social media on Sunday to report the unseasonal hail and thunderstorm in their localities while a number of others posted pictures of waterlogged roads in the town, urging civic government to carry out maintenance instantly. A couple of highway mishaps, similar to skidding of motorcycles, because of the rain were also reported.
