30 passengers of Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express fall ill after eating breakfast

BHUBANESWAR: Around 30 passengers of Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express (teach number 12278) allegedly fell unwell after taking bread omelet in their breakfast served on board on Wednesday morning.

The teach left Puri at five.45 am. The breakfast was served at around eight am after the teach left Bhubaneswar. Initially, 4 passengers including a kid complained of vomiting and uneasiness at Belda station in West Bengal. Most of the passengers belong to C2 coach, mentioned a senior official of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).


After getting grievance, a health care provider rushed to the coach to treat the passengers. When the teach reached Kharagpur station, 15 other people were taken to Kharagpur railway medical institution for checkup. They were released after treatment. Later 15 others reportedly complained of equivalent well being problems, railway resources mentioned.


The teach was detained at the Kharagpur station for around one hour. Some of the passengers agitated against IRCTC for serving substandard food on board. “I felt uneasy after having the breakfast. A kid close to my berth started vomiting,” mentioned a passenger.


Debashish Chandra, head of IRCTC’s jap zone, mentioned the food samples had been sent for trying out. “Only 15 individuals were admitted to Kharagpur railway medical institution for treatment. We have served breakfast to more than 500 passengers, but a few amongst them complained of sickness.
