GURUGRAM: A dhaba spread over 1,000 square yards was razed to the bottom on Wednesday in Haiderpur Viran falling within the environmentally secure Aravalis.
The dhaba off Gurugram-Faridabad Road were running illegally for the previous eight years, forest division officers mentioned.
This was the second one drive prior to now 15 days through the forest division, continuously accused of turning a blind eye to encroachments within the Aravalis.
On Wednesday, a staff, comprising an obligation magistrate, around 30 forest staff from the Gurugram and Sohna vary and seven cops, demolished the dhaba with the help of earth movers.
Under the Punjab Land Preservation (PLPA) Act, 1900, and the Aravalis notification, any roughly building within the space is illegal.
Reportedly, the forest division had visited the dhaba on May 3 however the land proprietor had showed them faux paperwork and controlled to stall the drive.
“We got the information from native people that the dhaba were running at the forest land for a few years. When we visited the dhaba, the landlord produced faux earnings paperwork and claimed it was not constructed on forest land. However, we got the paperwork verified within the DRO (district earnings place of work) and we came to grasp that the papers have been faux,” mentioned a forest division legit.
Deepak Nanda, district forest officer, told TOI, “We will carry out more such drives as and when required. We are not going to spare somebody encroaching upon the land within the secure space.”
Green activists favored the move and demanded similar action in Faridabad side too. “There are still many illegal constructions that wish to be razed. There are many illegal dhabas, go-downs, and porta cabins encroaching upon the forest land within the Aravalis,” mentioned Jitender Bhadana from Save Aravalis, a Faridabad primarily based NGO.
