Almost all under construction ROBs in Odisha running behind deadline

BHUBANESWAR: A total of 14 street over bridges (ROBs) are below development in different parts of the state. Out of these tasks, paintings of only one ROB is in fact keeping up the time limit. Other 13 tasks are running behind the time limit.
Of the 14 ROBs, the state govt and Railways will build these over bridges with 50:50 cost sharing basis. The leisure two will probably be funded through the state govt on my own. Railways assemble its part on the rail line, however the state builds primary parts like method roads to the over bridges. The works department executes the tasks.

According to authentic sources, paintings of eight ROBs is behind schedule through more than one 12 months. Some of these tasks have crossed the time limit through three years.

The eight ROBs are situated at Jagannathpur near Berhampur, Ranaposhi in Dhenkanal district, Budhapanka in Angul district, Gangadharpur near Balugaon, Bamulia and Soro in Balasore district, Saheed Nagar and Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar.

The other five tasks have been behind schedule through one to six months. It will probably be constructed at Gopalpur junction, Berhampur, Muribahal in Titlagarh and two others in Rourkela district.

The 1.2 km lengthy Saheed Nagar ROB extending against Bomikhal and Rasulgarh is behind schedule through three years. Similarly, Pokhariput ROB in Old Town area within the capital town is behind schedule through four years.


A senior authentic of the works department mentioned the tasks are getting behind schedule because of several problems including land dispute and design exchange.


Besides these, the state govt with the help of the Railways is planning to build 76 new ROBs around the state. It will waft smooth and get started the paintings of any other 14 ROBs quickly, mentioned the officer.


Works minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik mentioned he has asked for a document from his department officers about the condition and status of the outdated and ongoing ROBs within the state to take vital steps about the protection of these over bridges. “I do know paintings of a few ROBs is behind schedule for a 12 months and two years. I can assessment the standing of all the ROBs and accelerate the construction paintings as soon as imaginable,” he added.


Mallik mentioned his department has already began the process to complete the works of the over bridges inside the latest time limit. “Our govt is operating on it,” he added.
