BU instructs franchise centres to stop operations immediately

When contacted, P Thirunavukkarasu, a member of the convener committee of the college, said the round was according to a UGC legislation to close down franchise centres. “We had already informed the centres ultimate September. Now, we have passed a solution in the syndicate assembly and sent a conversation to the centres that haven’t complied with our directions,” he said.


Registrar incharge of BU, B Vanitha, reiterated the college’s earlier determination to close the franchise centres. “We had already made up our minds to stop admissions through franchise centres. Now that we've got placed the decision in the syndicate, we have sent the conversation to the centres,” she said.


The college has, in the meantime, sent name letters to the affiliated colleges searching for expression of hobby to act as learner give a boost to centres “to function programmes of distance education as consistent with UGC legislation – 2017”. A choice in this regard was also taken on the syndicate assembly hung on May 18. The colleges had been given time till June 18 to express their hobby.
