Car from Odisha caught in Kolkata with 60 kg ganja

BHUBANESWAR: Customs (prevention) officers in Kolkata have contacted the state delivery division referring to a car Galiff Street, bearing an Odisha registration number, which that was once intercepted within the Bengal capital on Tuesday whilst transporting ganja. The car had a Government of India plate and a purple beacon.


Customs officers intercepted the car on Galiff Street near Bagbazar Canal in Kolkata and seized just about 60 kg ganja value around Rs 6,14,000. The driving force fled after he realized that a customs automobile was once chasing him, a supply stated.


"We are trying to find out the details of the car and its owner. The ganja had been brought from the Malkangiri area. The driver was scheduled to make a delivery in Bongaon. Fragrant insect repellents were sprayed on the ganja packets to suppress the smell of the intoxicant," a customs officer stated.


A supply stated customs officers had received intelligence inputs in regards to the delivery of ganja from Odisha to West Bengal. "When we saw the vehicle, the red beacon raised our suspicions," the officer stated.


The officers suspect that the breakthrough would give them additional leads. Recently, officers of the directorate of revenue intelligence seized just about 1,200 kg of ganja from Khandagiri sq. in Bhubaneswar. Customs officers are probing whether the newest packages had been linked to the similar racket.
