Udhagamandalam: The 122nd edition of Ooty flower show shall be inaugurated by chief minister Edappadi Ok Palaniswami at the Government Botanical Garden (GBG) on Friday.
The much-awaited show shall be on till May 22. Governor Banwarilal Purohit will take part within the valedictory function.
Around 70 sorts of flowers in about 45,000 pots and about 1, 50,000 plants of about 150 varieties shall be featured within the tournament. Additionally, the show could have a floral copy of Mettur Dam and a Barbie doll.
According to Shiva Subramaniam Samraj, joint director (in price) of horticulture division, a replica of Valluvar Kottam, made of spices can be displayed. Another attraction at the GBG this year will be the newly-developed glass house arranged with sorts of flower pots.
Tamil Nadu ministers, R Duraikannu, P Thangamani and S P Velumani may also take part within the inaugural function.
Palaniswami may also inaugurate the 500 megawatt Kundha underground hydroelectricity project estimated at Rs1, 850 crore.
After inaugurating the flower show and the hydroelectricity project on Friday, the CM will leave for Yercaud.
