Cops book around 25 persons for ‘attempt to murder’

LUDHIANA: Basti Jodhewal police have booked about 25 persons accused for try to homicide a person once they attacked him, as he refused to change his commentary prior to the police in an assault case on his good friend. The accused have been identified as Anku, Raju, Teju, Sumani, Manu Grewal, and Sunny Jindal, while 15 to 20 persons have been yet to be identified.

Complainant Sanjeev Saini of Preet Nagar stated he was found in his ‘mohalla’ close to the workplace of a politician, when the accused — armed with a sharp-edged weapon — reached there at 9.30pm on Thursday. He added that they attacked him with that weapon, and beat him with a baseball bat. Sanjeev later stated his brother Neeraj reached the spot and took him to a personal clinic on Brown Road. He added that the accused persons had beat up his good friend Rohit a couple of days in the past, and have been pressurizing him to change his commentary made to the police within the case. After the incident, the complainant informed the police.


Cops from Basti Jodhewal police reached Sanjeev and began investigation. They later booked the accused underneath sections 307 (try to homicide), 324 (voluntarily inflicting hurt via dangerous guns or way), 326 (voluntarily inflicting grievous hurt via dangerous guns or way), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly guns) and 149 (each and every member of unlawful assembly in charge of offence dedicated in prosecution of a commonplace object) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Station space officer (SHO) of Basti Jodhewal police station, inspector Muhammad Jameel, stated the accused persons have been on the run, and a manhunt were introduced to arrest them.
