Couple tries to end lives at Coimbatore collectorate

Coimbatore: A couple from Ukkadam on Monday attempted to devote suicide by means of atmosphere themselves ablaze on the collectorate in the hunt for action towards a person who cheated them of cash after promising them area from the slum clearance board (SCB).
The couple- Jayakumar and Suguna mentioned Tirumeni befriended them pronouncing he used to be running in SCB and got Rs 50,000 from them by means of promising a area.

He had additionally requested the couple to collect money from their pals and mentioned he would get properties for them as well. Trusting his phrases, the couple collected round Rs 12 lakh from their pals and acquaintances and gave it to Tirumeni.


He won the money and assured homes for all. However, Tirumeni didn’t revert to the people even after several days. Irked over this, people started pestering Jayakumar and Suguna to go back their money. Following this, the couple searched Tirumeni, alternatively couldn’t hint him.


Subsequently, Jayakumar filed a criticism towards Tirumeni with the Ukkadam police. But, he mentioned, the police didn’t take any action towards the cheater.


On Monday, Jayakumar and Suguna came to the collectorate, doused themselves with petrol and attempted to set themselves ablaze. Police workforce, who had been on the spot, straight away stopped the couple and took them to the Racecourse police station. Subsequently, they have got been inquiring the whereabouts of Tirumeni.
