BHUBANESWAR: Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday instructed his cupboard colleague Radha Mohan Singh, agriculture minister, to increase all imaginable toughen to the farmers faced large crop loss due to the new Nor’wester rain.
In a letter to Singh, Pradhan mentioned standing crops in thousands of acres in Odisha got broken due to the premature rain. “Intensity of the crop injury is top in Bargarh, Jajpur, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Balasore. Some pockets of these districts are already in the bottom of the poverty pyramid and the new calamity will add woes to the farmers,” mentioned Pradhan in the letter.
He mentioned the location has already pressured farmers to take drastic steps and two farmers have tried suicide. “Keeping all these issues in thoughts, I request you to facilitate evaluate of the location and extend all imaginable toughen,” he mentioned in the letter.
