Encroachment: HC issues notice to DMK MLA

CHENNAI: The Madras prime court has issued understand to DMK MLA and former town Mayor M Subramanian on a petition alleging that he was making an attempt to encroach a government property right here.

A division bench of justices M Sathyanarayanan and P Rajamanickam issued notices to the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO), the Industries Development Corporation of India and Subramanian, returnable via June 29, on a public pastime litigation (PIL) petition filed via one S Panthiban.

The bench, in its interim order, mentioned, "In the light of the communication given by the Public Information Officer of SIDCO, notice to the respondents through court as well as privately, returnable by June 29."

The petitioner has submitted that Subramanian, in his nomination papers filed for the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, had stated that a property at Labour Colony in Guindy was registered in the identify of his spouse, Kanchana.

Alleging that the information was false, the petitioner has mentioned the valuables was allotted to S K Kannan via the Industries and Commerce Department on February 14, 1959 and he had died in 2015, leaving behind six daughters and a son.

The legal inheritor certificates had confirmed it and Kanchana's identify was not found in it, the petitioner has submitted.


The petitioner has alleged that Subramanian, also a attorney, had used his energy and political affect to create many documents, that have been produced ahead of SIDCO and other government with an aim to seize the government property.


He has also alleged that the officials of SIDCO had colluded with Subramanian.


The petitioner has further submitted that despite his illustration dated April 12 to the government involved, no motion was taken to take away Subramanian and Kanchana from the valuables.


He has mentioned that hence, the current PIL was filed, in the hunt for the removal of Subramanian and his spouse from the valuables owned via SIDCO.
