Kerala CM’s dream initiative 'Professional students conclave' to be held at CUSAT

KOCHI: Pegged as the dream initiative of the Kerala Chief Minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan, a primary of its sort `Professional Students conclave’ will likely be held at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) on Sunday, to utilise their ideas to Rebuild Kerala. CM may even lay the basis stone on Sunday at 6 pm for a full-fledged six-storey `Academic Block’ for frontline research in CUSAT campus.


Over 2500 pupil representatives from 12 branches including engineering, generation, regulation, agriculture, medication, pharmacy and control are anticipated to take part within the conclave. Innovative ideas elicited from students and college on the conclave will likely be utilised within the undertaking to Rebuild Kerala. It may well be in reconstruction, water quality tracking, managing sediments and wetlands, CUSAT vice-chancellor R Sasidharan advised TOI.

“A first of its sort Professional students conclave, it's the brainchild of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his dream initiative that evolved as an offshoot of the assembly he had with CUSAT pros in another country within the wake of Kerala floods,” he stated. CM may even lay the basis stone for a full-fledged Academic block within the campus on Sunday.


“Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) has assured Rs 240 crore funding for the Academic Block undertaking including Rs 100 crore for the building and last for equipment. Building paintings will start with the CM laying the basis stone for the undertaking on Sunday,” CUSAT registrar Prof. KN Madhusudanan stated. The educational block will likely be a six-floor centralised facility with computing centre, lecture rooms, convention halls, labs with all latest research equipment to set global standards in frontline research. It will lend a hand in joint and interdisciplinary research throughout departments, he stated.


Post floods, CUSAT campus had six camps accommodating 11000 affected other people had been served meals with the make stronger of Indian Navy, students and college of the campus. Now an extension centre in Marine sciences is planned to be set up to verify direct connect to the affected other people and to provide solutions in livelihood element of rebuilding Kerala, CUSAT vice-chancellor stated.
