Four kidnap businessman, get Rs 33 lakh ransom

CHENNAI: A special police staff is looking for 4 males who allegedly kidnapped a financier and his son-inlaw from Vadapalani on Thursday before freeing them on the cost of Rs 33 lakh and 28 sovereigns of gold jewellery price Rs 6.5 lakh after first demanding Rs 1 crore as ransom. After being dumped blindfolded at a desolate spot in Tambaram, C Mohan, 49, and Manickam returned home before accommodation a police complaint on Friday.


Mohan, who runs a finance company together with 5 partners at Pillyar Koil Street in Vadapalani, was in his place of work on April 23 when a person recognized as Saravana Kumar arrived. Claiming he was an agent who helped arrange loans for businessmen, Kumar said he wanted Rs 20 lakh for the homeowners of a medical apparatus manufacturing company on OMR who were inquisitive about increasing their industry. Mohan agreed however said he would wish to vist the firm. After greater than a month, Kumar said they may make the inspection on Thursday.


As Mohan and Manickam were getting into Mohan’s automotive, Kumar arrived and said he would take them in his automotive and drop them back.
