‘India must launch new drug globally’

COIMBATORE: Extoling the rustic’s prowess in producing generic drugs, J Jayaseelan, vice-president of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, on Saturday was hoping that the domestic companies launch a brand new drug within the global marketplace.
“We proceed to dominate the generic drug section. But, we are but to independently launch a brand new drug within the global marketplace,” he stated on the sidelines of the inaugural serve as of a seminar on commercial pharmacy, high quality keep watch over and assurance, and control on the Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences.

“Product patent was once offered in 2005. But the domestic pharmaceutical companies have failed to develop new drugs due to lack of research and development actions,” Jayaseelan lamented.

While a large number of multi-national pharma homes have opened their research and development centres around the country, the domestic opposite numbers have discovered it difficult to afford the massive expenses to produce a brand new molecule, he explained, including that they may launch a brand new drug on the earliest.


Pointing out that India have been exporting drugs to more than 200 international locations around the globe, Ok Chinnasamy, president of TN state pharmacy council stated it has made enviable strides within the entrance of generic drugs and ayurvedic and siddha new drugs.


Supporting the e-pharmacies device, Chinnasamy stated best pharmacists would deliver drugs to customers that too after verifying the physician’s prescription. It would, in some way, ease the pain of moving from a pharmacy to anther in search of a specific medicine, he stated.
