LUDHIANA: In a ray of hope for city industrialists affected by different issues — together with a sharp upward push within the rates of metal raw material, and pending VAT refunds — state trade minister Sundar Sham Arora will talk over with Ludhiana on May 10 to engage with businessmen and concentrate to their grievances. Confirming his talk over with, Mahesh Khanna, basic manager of District Industries Centre, said: “The trade minister will talk over with Ludhiana on May 10, and hold a meeting with businessmen from 11am to 2pm, and then he's going to also talk over with some factories.”
According to GS Kahlon, president of the Auto Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA): “The rates of iron and metal are touching the sky, and it is nothing less than a nightmare for the trade. The state government will have to take up this subject critically with the Union government and the Ministry of Steel, to be sure that a metal regulatory fee is set up for tracking and controlling the prices of metal.”
Speaking to TOI, Atul Saggar, basic secretary of Apparels Manufacturers Association (AMA), said: “The issue of pending VAT refunds worth crores is hurting the trade very badly, and the trade minister will have to take pressing understand of this to get to the bottom of the problem. We will take up this subject with him when he involves Ludhiana.”
According to Dinesh Kalra, president of Ludhiana Business Forums: “Since Ludhiana is the biggest business city in Punjab, and each kind of trade is located right here, the trade minister will have to make sure he comes right here at least once a month to review government policies and concentrate to our issues.”
