Karnataka Elections: BJP candidate U Rajesh defeats minister Ramanath Rai in Bantwal

MANGALURU: Minister B Ramanath Rai, who represented Bantwal constituency for six phrases, was once defeated by means of BJP candidate U Rajesh Naik.

However, in 2004, Rai suffered setback after BJP candidate B Nagaraj Shetty defeated him by means of bagging 54,860 votes. Rai misplaced the seat by means of bagging handiest 48,934 votes in opposition to Shetty. In the 2008 election, Rai retained the seat by means of defeating Nagaraj Shetty. While Rai bagged 61,560 votes, Shetty may just protected 60,309 votes then.
