Metro stations to offer bike services at Rs 4/km

HYDERABAD: In a move to beef up last-mile connectivity, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), on Wednesday, inaugurated three new motorbike stations at Nagole, Parade Ground and Begumpet stations. Commuters alighting at any of these points can now hire a motorcycle for a meagre Rs 4 in line with kilometre to travel to and from their locations.

Earlier this year, the first such ‘Rent a Bike’ station was arrange at Miyapur — a collaborative project of HMRL and a non-public agency — with 20 motorcycles to be had for hire. With three new stations being added to the list, the full rely of motorcycles across stations has now touched 60.



N V S Reddy, managing director, HMRL stated tha t the challenge will step by step be scaled as much as come with 500 motorcycles. “The hire a motorcycle challenge has noticed excellent demand among commuters. It will slowly be scaled up and prolonged to all Metro stations,” stated Reddy.


Passengers can hire these motorcycles by furnishing motive force’s license and Aadhaar card and will be able of renting vehicles without or with gears to succeed in their offices/houses from the stations. Commuters will not must pay any ready and gasoline charges. According to those running with Metro Bikes, the motorbike rental agency providing the carrier on the Metro stations, helmets may also be provided to commuters availing the carrier.


“Now hire a scooter starting at Rs 4 in line with kilometre at Nagole, Parade Ground, Begumpet and Miyapur; carrier provided by Metro Bikes,” tweeted L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited officials, on Wednesday.
