Mob violence in Old City: 5 journalists among 19 nabbed

HYDERABAD: South Zone police arrested 14 folks and five local newshounds in terms of the mob violence in the Old City that resulted in the demise of a 52-year-old guy at Chandrayangutta.


Influenced by way of rumours of child kidnapping gangs at the prowl, the mob attacked a group of cross-dressers at 11pm on May 26 near Azeem Hotel in Hafeez Baba Nagar, Chandrayangutta. A cleric got here to the rescue of the sufferers and managed to convince the mob not to lodge to violence all over the holy month.


While the cleric managed to avoid wasting the duo, any other staff targeted two folks, Chandraiah and Swamy, near Deccan Medical Hall in Chandrayangutta and attacked them with stones. Chandrayya, 52, succumbed to accidents at Osmania General Hospital in the early hours of May 27.


After the incident, police analysed CCTV footage of the violence and arrested 14 folks, including a juvenile culprit. The accused had been despatched to judicial remand.
