NCR favourite office mkt for Chinese firms

Noida: As Chinese companies are more and more increasing their global footprint, Delhi-NCR has so far emerged as their favorite destination for putting in place offices in India.
This inference may also be drawn from a document through real estate research company Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) that finds Chinese companies have leased over 5 lakh sqft workplace house in Delhi-NCR between 2015 and 2017.

According to the document, titled ‘China 12: China’s Cities Go Global’, Chinese firms have leased 5,16,667 squareft of workplace house in Delhi-NCR from 2015 to 2017. Mumbai, when put next, has observed 85,537 squareft workplace house intake through Chinese-origin companies in the similar duration.

Globally, 10 cities have maximum connect to China by way of workplace house hire — Delhi-NCR (counted as two cities), Madrid, Bangkok, Munich, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, Sydney, Manila and Jakarta. However, in terms of the growth of its current mainland offices offshore, in Asia, Singapore figures on top of the record.

The Chinese companies which have just lately expanded their operations in India come with Vivo, OPPO, Alibaba, ZTE, Huawei and Xiaomi. Though technology companies like Vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi, ZTE and Huawei, and e-commerce large Alibaba all have their corporate offices in Gurgaon, some of them even have their cellular handset production devices in Noida.

For example, Vivo has taken up 6,00,000 squareft workplace house between 2014 and 2017 while its competitor OPPO has occupied about 100,000 squareft within the NCR in the similar duration. Players like ZTE, Alibaba and Bank of China in combination have absorbed workplace house of about 100,000 squareft in Mumbai between 2015 and 2017, says the document.

Ramesh Nair, CEO and nation head, JLL-India, advised TOI, “Chinese companies had been making their presence felt in Asia and feature set up offices in major markets, including India. Even despite the fact that leasing is still largely pushed through US and EU-based companies in India, Chinese companies are fast putting in place base to take advantage of the marketplace measurement and the accelerated expansion of the economy.”

“India is a diverse marketplace that gives global firms both a centre of excellence in addition to a promising audience for his or her products,” he added.

According to JLL, the trajectories of many Asian cities — from megacities to mid-sized hubs — are set to be remodeled through Chinese activity in coming years and Chinese technology and innovation will transform the way in which people are living and work in those cities.

“Corporate presence, leasing activity and investment measures obviously indicate a rising hobby from Chinese firms in south and southeast Asia. Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila and Ho Chi Minh City could also be key goals for Corporate China. As a end result, we may see a realignment within the corporate geography, as attention tilts in opposition to India and southeast Asia,” stated Jeremy Kelly, director (global research), JLL.

Other researchers have known 5 areas in NCR that can be turned into hubs for affordable housing. They are Sohna in Gurgaon, Rajnagar Extension in Ghaziabad, Yamuna Expressway, Greater Noida (West) and Bhiwadi.
