BHUBANESWAR: Norwester rains wreaked havoc in several portions of Odisha together with in depth injury of vegetation in six districts. State Relief Commissioner (SRC) has sought record from all districts on crop loss and injury because of Norwester (Kalabaisakhi) rains that lashed most portions of the states on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. “Six districts that are damaged because of Norwester rain and thunderstorms are Bargarh, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Sonepur and Mayurbhanj. Among the six districts, Bargarh has been the worst-affected with huge injury to standing vegetation in Bhatli, Atabira, Bheden, Barpalli and Bijepur blocks,” stated deputy SRC P Okay Mohapatra.

He stated, as many as 3 individuals were died because of Norwester rain in the state so far because of unseasonal rain this summer season. The deceased are from Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Bargarh districts, who died because of falling of bushes whilst one individual died in wall cave in.


“The creditors of those six districts were requested to publish an in depth record on the injury on the earliest,” Mohapatra added.
