BHUBANESWAR: Police have made up our minds to provide drunkards a possibility to give up alcohol as an alternative of simply enforcing a fantastic when they're stuck inflicting nuisance, violence and committing offences. "We will now inform their family members or guardians and refer the drunkards to Alcoholics Anonymous where they will get a chance to reform," stated commissioner of police Y B Khurania.

Alcoholics Anonymous, a famous voluntary organisation, has been selected to educate alcohol addicts about the harmful affect of the intoxicant. Till date, police used to impose a fantastic on someone stuck under the influence of alcohol.


Sources at Alcoholics Anonymous stated it does no longer rate cash from those who are interested to get better from the habit. "Unlike deaddiction centres, we do not give medicines," stated a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.


Noted Mumbai-based psychiatrist Ashish Deshpande, who treats the liquor addicts at Alcoholics Anonymous, stated a lot of crimes, including home violence, are committed by way of other people drunk. "We provide a 12-step recovery training programme ," Deshpande stated.
