BENGALURU: Last week’s rain has led to an increase in the froth at Bellandur Lake. The foul-smelling foam is attracting swarms of mosquitoes, forcing residents to hotel to measures like burning coconut husks.
Residents in the vicinity claim to have spotted a hearth across the lake on May 4. However, it became out that the blaze was once began through villagers who had been attempting to give protection to their livestock from the mosquitoes.
Alluding to the foam, Srinivas Alavilli of Citizens for Bengaluru (CfB) took to social media on Tuesday: “May is meant to be the freshest month but we got snow taking place. Cancel your holiday plans and get on Yemalur Road (sic),” he wrote on Facebook.
Fearing long-term health issues, resident Seema Sharma said: “I'm scared about the quality of air my children breathe. We’ve supplied mosquito-repellent patches to the protection guards in our condominium advanced so that they're better protected.”
Since only one facet of the bridge has been fenced, residents say the foam is spilling on to the street. “We had been making efforts to regulate the frothing, but it is going to take some more time,” said a BDA reputable.
