Rahul meets Karnataka leaders on allocation of ministerial berths, talks inconclusive

NEW DELHI: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday held deliberations with birthday party leaders from Karnataka on the allocation of ministerial berths between his birthday party and the JD(S), but the talks remained inconclusive.

Sources stated that the issue could no longer be resolved in spite of marathon deliberations and the leaders will again meet the following day.

The meeting was once attended by former Karnataka leader minister Siddaramaiah, deputy leader minister G Parameshwara, state birthday party in charge KC Venugopal, and senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and DK Shivakumar.

"We discussed portfolio allocation. First, we need to finalise the portfolios between the two parties. Thereafter, we will decide whom to allocate what ministry," Venugopal advised PTI after the meeting.

The whole process will likely be finished in a day or two, he added.

The Congress and the JD(S) are at loggerheads over the important thing portfolios of finance and residential.

Chief minister and JD(S) chief HD Kumaraswamy has admitted to having "some issues" with the Congress + over portfolio allocation that was once delaying the formation of all of the council of ministers.

On May 23, Kumaraswamy and Parameshwara took oath and leader minister and deputy leader minister respectively.

Kumaraswamy is scheduled to reach in Delhi on Monday to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is prone to hold discussions with most sensible Congress management to iron out the variations.


The problems with according ok illustration to various areas and keeping up the caste stability within the state are weighing heavy on each the parties.


It has already been made up our minds that Congress would have 22 ministers and JD(S) 12 within the new council of ministers.


The resources stated that the Congress will take a call to begin with on having 16-17 ministers.
