Udupi: After retreating his nomination to contest as an Independent, Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt has not been observed in public for a while now.
In the early phases of the assembly elections, he created a stir among other folks and devotees as he supported Congress MLA Pramod Madhwaraj in Udupi constituency. Then, he demanded a price tag from BJP, claiming that leaders right here don't seem to be in a position to ruling. When it was denied, he filed his nomination as an independent and until the last moment, he said he wouldn’t withdraw the nomination. However, on last day of retreating nominations, he voluntarily pulled out of the fray. Since then, he has been silently campaigning for the BJP candidate.
Asked why he was supporting the BJP candidate when he wasn’t happy with the celebration, the seer said: “I want Karnataka to have a BJP government. I imagine that beneath the BJP government (and leadership of Modi and Amit Shah), the state can see building. I also know that beneath the BJP government, we can entire the Ram Mandir venture and the Krishna Mutt will see great strengthen and building.”
He added, “Under Pramod Madhwaraj as MLA, building is occurring but it’s not reaching other folks down the line. I keep getting complaints from the general public of not having safe haven, water and connectivity issues. I prolong my lend a hand, but I've barriers. It’s the federal government’s job and government representatives will have to take care of it. I’ll persuade my devotees and other folks associated with me to vote for BJP. I've to appear into the constraints of the Election Commission so I’m operating silently. On Monday, I’ll attend a gathering arranged by way of Sukumar Shetty, BJP candidate from Byndoor constituency.”
Asked if Ragupathi Bhat met to persuade him, he said, “I’m not satisfied by way of any candidate right here. I've to obey my devotees and close pals. Though he deliberate to meet me, it hasn’t happened as both of us are busy with our work. I’m not supporting native applicants. My goal is to lend a hand Modi win. I attended Modi’s programme in Udupi.”
