Mysuru: Storage of food at top altitudes has been a power drawback confronted through the Indian military. However, a staff of young scientists through Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), in affiliation with the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), has developed the ‘Modular Storage System for Ration’, a silo that can be utilized to store food and different rations at puts situated 10,000 feet above sea level, where sub-zero temperatures are common.
The type, authorized through the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), was once developed on the Mysuru centre of DFRL through the Young Scientists’ Cluster. The innovation is anticipated to assist the Indian Army in storing food in puts sucha s Siachen and Ladakh, where the temperature drops to beneath -40 degrees Celsisus.
The silo was once designed through scientists DK Yadav and Neera, underneath the guidance of senior scientist AD Semwal. “The silo has been developed underneath the ‘Project Soldiers’ Assist’ device for difficult areas to cater to the wishes of the Indian Army in upper altitudes. Storage of food is of maximum concern in areas such as Ladakh, and Siachen, where food freezes at sub-zero temperatures,” stated Yadav.
The silos are in a position to be dispatched to Ladakh, where they will be put in at Nubra Valley.
