Suspended APSC member arrested in cash-for-job scam

GUWAHATI: Basanta Doley, a suspended member of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), has been arrested in connection with a case in the cash-for-job rip-off in the APSC registered with Bhangagarh Police here.
Doley, a main accused in the rip-off, was once previous arrested by means of Dibrugarh Police. He was once later granted bail in August last year.

Last week, police submitted the case standing in court here and stated they have found enough evidence in opposition to Doley and 25 others. In this case, complainant Bebanta Bikash Das stated that he had handed the APSC written exam in 2014 but failed in viva in 2015 as he may just no longer pay Rs 15 lakh to Rakesh Paul, the prime accused in the case .


Police sources stated over 1,000 optical mark popularity sheets of candidates, who had appeared in an exam for jobs in the state's agriculture department, were sent for forensic research in conjunction with attendance listing and marksheets.


Sources stated they have amassed evidence of tampering of resolution scripts by means of a minimum of 27 candidates. These candidates are likely to be arrested in a while, stated a policeman.


In June last year, a minimum of 25 state govt officers appointed through APSC had been summoned and made to sit down for a handwriting check, following which 24 of them had been arrested on charges of taking illegal method for the selection.
