KOLKATA: The city persisted to stay warm and humid with the maximum temperature touching 36 o C and maximum relative humidity taking pictures as much as 87% on Wednesday.
Even though one of the crucial neighbouring districts won thundershowers, Kolkata persisted to sweat. But the weather could alternate on Thursday with a cyclonic move set to develop over Jharkhand. A thunderstorm could hit the town, predicted the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC).
“Moisture from the sea is answerable for the humidity. Kolkata has not won a thunderstorm in the final 12 days. The depression that advanced over east-central Bay of Bengal near Myanmar used to be sucking away all the moisture. “It hit the land on Wednesday and stopped attracting moisture which is excellent news for Kolkata. There must now be enough moisture to feed the move over Jharkhand and cause a thunderstorm,” stated RMC director GK Das. He stated the typhoon could strike a day later if not on Thursday.
