BALASORE: A mob on Wednesday allegedly stripped a person and girl, tonsured their heads and paraded them naked across the village for allegedly having an extra-marital affair. The incident used to be reported from Ketakijhuri village below Ramchandrapur panchayat in Oupada block of Balasore district.
Sources mentioned Arati Behera, a married lady from the village, used to be allegedly taken with a physical relationship with Pitamber Das, also married, from the close by Jagannathpur village. About a month again the 2 had eloped leaving in the back of their children. While Behera is a mother of two children, Das has a three-year-old daughter.
On Wednesday some folks noticed them in an objectionable position in a space in Ketakijhuri village. I need to gather some courage before I will file an FIR," he mentioned. Asked about the cause of the villagers beating them, he mentioned, "I had a friendly relationship with Behera for a long time. But a few neighbours suspected her of having an affair with me." The lady, alternatively, remained silent.
Nilagiri SDPO Sudam Charan Sahu mentioned Oupada police are yet to receive any criticism on this matter. "We will take appropriate action if the victims lodge a complaint," Sahu mentioned.
