BENGALURU: A 19-year-old formative years has been arrested for allegedly blackmailing an MBBS scholar for Rs 1 lakh. The formative years had received personal photos of the student and threatened to add them on the net if he was not paid.
Police said Raghavendra Singh, a resident of Kengeri, had received photos of the student from her fiancĂ©’s mobile phone. The telephone have been stolen on May 6 near RV College on Mysuru Road.
Raghavendra allegedly discovered personal photos and a video of the woman at the telephone and hatched a plan to blackmail her. He attempted contacting her over Facebook by way of growing a pretend ID, however his buddy request was rejected. Two days later, he allegedly contacted her over WhatsApp and demanded cash in return for keeping the images and video personal.
At first, the woman did not take Raghavendra’s threats seriously, but when he sent her a few sample photos she approached Mysuru police. However, when Mysuru law enforcement officials did not act, ostensibly due to ballot duty, the student informed her fiancĂ©, who filed a complaint with Kengeri police on Monday. Kengeri police set a lure to nab the formative years. They requested the victim to reply to Raghavendra by way of telling him she may best pay Rs 20,000 and was prepared to fulfill him handy over the cash. After converting the positioning of the rendezvous seven instances, Raghavendra walked into the lure.
Singh reportedly confessed to his crime and claimed he had blackmailed the woman because he wanted cash to fund his sister’s schooling. “He claimed his sister had cleared II PU exams recently and he wanted Rs 60,000 for her higher schooling. He also claimed his father is suffering from cancer.” An investigation is on to make sure the formative years’s claims.
