LUDHIANA: Two other people were killed as an 18-wheeler truck ran right into a desk bound vehicle on National Highway 1, near Khanna, early on Sunday.
While truck motive force Amit Kumar Sharma, 35, succumbed on strategy to medical institution, his helper Monu Kumar, 24 died at the spot.
The collision was so robust that the entrance portion of the truck was totally damaged.
Police stated Amit was using the sugar-loaded truck from Ambala to Ludhiana. “When they reached near Khanna round 4am, the truck rammed into the vehicle parked on National Highway 1. Passersby referred to as up the police and an ambulance that took the truck motive force to a medical institution. But he died on manner. His helper had succumbed at the spot. By the time police reached the site, the unidentified motive force had fled with the vehicle,” stated Khanna City-II police station SHO inspector Rajneesh Sood.
It appeared Amit feel asleep at the wheel. Both Amit and Monu were natives of Uttar Pradesh, he added.
About the parked vehicle, the police stated it must be a truck. “We are seeking to trace the vehicle and its motive force. As no CCTV cameras are put in at the street, we are gathering data from passers-by. The crash came about near a filling station,” stated assistant sub-inspector Pavittar Singh.
Police have registered a case towards the unidentified vehicle motive force beneath sections 279 (rash using), 304-a (causing demise by way of negligence) and 427 (mischief causing injury to the quantity of 50 rupees) of the IPC.
