KOLKATA: A lady in West Bengal's Hoogly district on Sunday by chance shot and severely injured her mom while playing with a loaded pistol the lady had discovered outside and given to her daughter, considering it was once a toy, police stated.
According to police, Kakoli Jana discovered the pistol in a garden outside their space at Khanakul in Arambag on Sunday morning and mistook it for a toy.
As the girl was once playing with it, she fired it by chance, capturing her mom within the again, a police officer stated.
"The injured woman was rushed to Arambag Hospital. Her condition is critical," he stated.
The lady has been detained for questioning.
"The girl said the pistol suddenly went off and the bullet hit her mother sitting in the room. She is in a state of shock," the officer stated.
Police stated they're investigating how the pistol came to be within the garden.
