Ailing Chinese sailor rescued

Mangaluru: The Coast Guard coordinated with local stakeholders to aid in the well timed clinical evacuation of a Chinese sailor who suffered from partial paralysis on board ship ‘MV Tao Brave’ enroute to Dahej from Australia. The Coast Guard also put its ship ‘Kasturba Gandhi,’ that was once 26 nautical miles away from the merchant vessel, on standby, to respond to any exigency. However, for the reason that sailor was once not in a critical situation, its services weren't required.

The local agents of the vessel, on receipt of information from the Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre, Mumbai at 2.45pm liaised and established communication with Customs, port and local police at the topic. Sailor Dong Xiaoxuan, 2d engineer on board the merchant vessel, suffered from signs of paralysis together with subdued facial features at the left facet of his face and pendulous at the left eyelid and corners of the mouth. The agent hired a tug to get Xiaoxuan, and brought him to New Mangalore Port.
