BENGALURU: Aishwarya BN, the JD(S) candidate emerged victorious in the Binnypet bypoll, which was held on Monday.
The bypoll was held as a result of the death of sitting corporator Mahadevamma Nagaraj in January.
Aishwarya, who is the daughter Mahadevamma, received the election with a complete of seven,188 votes, neatly forward of different contenders, Chamundeshwari G of the BJP (2,455 votes) and Srividya Shashikumar of the Congress (5,249 votes). The none of the above (NOTA) choice got 159 votes.
Voting was held in 37 polling stations on Monday, and 34,582 other folks were expected to exercise their franchise. However at 43.54%, the voter turnout was a lot lower than both the Bengaluru and state reasonable turnout, displayed all the way through final months assembly election.
Binnypet (ward no 121), is one of the 198 wards inside the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) limits, and is a part of the Gandhinagar assembly constituency.
Currently, the Congress and the JD(S) are coalition partners in the BBMP council.
