As farmers' agitation enters Day-3, vegetable prices soar

NEW DELHI: The 10-day lengthy national protest referred to as by the farmers' outfits entered the third day on Sunday, affecting vegetable and milk supply which in turn greater the vegetable prices.
The agitation is led by the Rashtriya Kisan Mahasangh which is the umbrella organisation. Over 100 outfits are collaborating in it.

The farmers have referred to as at the strike to press for his or her calls for of waiver of loans and the appropriate value for plants.

Farmers in different portions of the country were noticed elevating slogans and throwing vegetables at the streets.

There were no studies of violence throughout the "Gaon Bandh" (rural shutdown) which the farmers began on Friday demanding loan waiver, upper prices for his or her produce and immediate implementation of the Swaminathan Commission report on farming.

Vegetables were bought at some places underneath police protection.

Aam Kisan Union leader Kedar Sirohi told the mediapersons: "The farmers are supporting the agitation in a big way because of which the supplies are not reaching the cities (from villages). The government is trying to break the protest but has failed."

On Saturday, Haryana leader minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the cause of the protest as a 'non-issue'.

"They don't have any issue; they are just focusing on unnecessary things through this strike. Not selling produce will bring losses to the farmers only," Khattar mentioned.

The strike began on June 1 when 1000's of farmers from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana began a 10-day national strike demanding waiver of loans, right value for his or her plants and implementation of suggestions of Swaminathan Commission.

The protests were referred to as to mark the primary anniversary of the Mandsaur demonstration in Madhya Pradesh, wherein six farmers were killed in police firing (on June 6, 2017).


On Wednesday, a rite can be organised to pay tribute to the Mandsaur victims which can be attended by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.


As a part of the protest, farmers have stopped the supply of milk, vegetables and essential farm produce because of which the vegetable prices in the market have long past up.


On the final day of the protest on June 10, the farmers' our bodies will organise 'Bharat Bandh'.
