Betrayed woman helped bust Mali's scam

For Nilesh Mali, who is accused in a multi-crore billing scam, a lady Mali allegedly betrayed and raped, uncovered the scam to the state business tax division. This resulted in Mali’s arrest by means of the economic offences wing (EOW) of CID (crime).

Mali was once arrested from the Naroda area of the town on Friday night by means of EOW officials.

He was once accused of floating 26 dummy firms wherein he gained Rs 67.42 crore as enter tax credit by means of showing fictitious transactions of Rs 1,346 crore.

A crew led by means of inspector M M Solanki of the EOW nabbed Mali, who was once on the run for six months after a lady employee of his filed a rape case towards him with Khokhra police.

“The woman, who had worked for Mali for two or three years, filed a case of rape towards Mali. She also became an informant of the industrial tax division and uncovered the multi-crore billing scam. Thanks to her inputs, the tax division discovered that Mali was once working 26 dummy firms and had availed of enter tax credit of Rs 67.42 crore,” said a supply within the police.

Sources said that Mali was once so meticulous in showing transactions that tax officials may not find any wrongdoing till the woman equipped her enter.

“The tax division then raided the firms shown on paper and located that they were either non-existent or were very small firms, which could not transact in crores,” said assets.


The tax division seized greater than 50 chequebooks of quite a lot of persons and two computer systems, which have been used to generate bogus expenses by means of Mali and his friends.


Mali is from Rajasthan and lives along with his circle of relatives within the Naroda area of the town. Apart from the rape offence, he's booked for two circumstances of bounced cheques.


CID assets said Mali had also made quite a lot of etransactions on the dummy firms to deceive the state GST division.


Mali was once later produced within the town metropolitan court docket where in he was once remanded in CID custody for four days.
