Bus strike in Kolkata, adjoining dists on June 7

KOLKATA: Bus and minibus operators will cross on strike on June 7 in Kolkata and adjoining districts tough hike in fares owing to the steep increase in gasoline prices, probably the most greatest public delivery bus unions of West Bengal mentioned on Tuesday.
Joint Council of Bus Syndicates common secretary, Tapan Banerjee mentioned the strike is being held as the West Bengal Transport division, regardless of repeated pleas to it by means of the bus operators to extend bus fares has not replied to their demand.

He mentioned that on June 7, non-public buses and minibuses will stay off the roads in Kolkata and adjoining South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts.


"If our demand is still not met we will go for a state-wide strike to press for hike in fares," Banerjee mentioned.


He claimed that owing to the prime diesel prices, 60% of personal buses had been taken off the roads by means of their homeowners because of continued operational losses.


Truckers in the state have also introduced an indefinite strike from June 18 consistent with their nationwide frame's call to protest diesel value hike and to press for different calls for related to alleged police excesses and overloading by means of delivery companies.


Taxi operators in the state owing allegience to Bengal Taxi Association have referred to as a three-day strike from June 18 in quest of hike in fares.
